This Privacy Policy explains how GoFuel collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the GoFuel mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to handling your information transparently and in accordance with Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Overview

The App is operated by La100e Labs inc. ("La100e", "we", "us", or "our"), a corporation incorporated under the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada. GoFuel is a product of La100e Labs inc. GoFuel is designed to be privacy-friendly: it works without you giving us your name, email address, or a password. We collect only what we need to show you nearby fuel prices, sync your preferences, and send the notifications you ask for.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Vehicle and garage details you enter, such as make, model, fuel type, and fuel tank size, used to estimate your savings.
  • Favorite stations you select, and your fuel type preference.
  • Notification preferences, such as alert mode, your drop threshold, target price, quiet hours, and daily limits.
  • An optional home location, if you choose to set one, used to estimate the driving cost of a fill-up.

Information collected automatically

  • Approximate or precise location from your device, with your permission, to show stations near you and calculate distances (see Section 5).
  • A device push token from Apple Push Notification service, if you enable notifications, so we can deliver alerts.
  • An anonymous account identifier that we create to sync your settings and favorites across sessions and to associate your preferences with your device. It is not linked to your real-world identity.
  • Basic technical and diagnostic data, such as app version, device type, operating system version, and error or performance logs, used to keep the App working.

We do not require or collect your name, email address, phone number, or payment details through the App.

If you join our website waitlist

Before launch, our website (gofuelapp.ca) offers an optional email waitlist. If you submit it, we collect only the email address you provide, solely to email you once when GoFuel becomes available. The email is stored in our own database (Supabase), and the form is protected against automated abuse by Cloudflare Turnstile. To prevent abuse, we also briefly retain a one-way hashed form of your IP address for rate limiting; it is not used to identify you. We do not use waitlist emails for any other purpose, we do not share or sell them, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time using the contacts in Section 14. Aside from what is needed to run the waitlist form and its anti-spam check, our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

If you subscribe to GoFuel Premium

If you buy an optional subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We do not receive or store your name, billing address, or payment card details. We receive and store your subscription status (for example, whether a subscription is active, which plan, and its renewal or expiry date), linked to your anonymous account identifier, so we can unlock premium features and confirm your access. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

3. How we use information

  • To provide core features: show the map and nearby prices, compute distances, and estimate savings;
  • To sync your favorites and settings so they persist and can be restored if you reinstall the App on the same device;
  • To send the notifications you enable, about price changes at the stations you choose;
  • To provide, unlock, and manage any premium features you subscribe to, and to confirm your subscription status;
  • To maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service;
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.

We collect and use your information based on your consent (for example, when you grant location access or enable notifications) and on our legitimate need to provide a service you have requested. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning off the relevant permission in your device settings or by deleting the App, though some features will not work without it.

5. Location data

With your permission, the App uses your device location to center the map, show nearby stations, and calculate distances. You control this through your device location settings and can grant or revoke access at any time. We use location for these purposes while you use the App. Your precise location is used on your device to find nearby stations and is not used to track you across other apps or services. If you set an optional home location, it is stored with your synced settings to estimate driving cost.

6. Push notifications

If you enable notifications, Apple provides us with a push token for your device, which we store so we can deliver alerts about price changes at stations you select. You can disable notifications at any time in the App or in your device settings, after which we stop sending them. Delivery depends on Apple and your network and is not guaranteed.

7. How information is shared

We share information only as needed to run the Service:

  • Apple, to distribute the App, to deliver push notifications through Apple Push Notification service, and to process in-app purchases and subscriptions;
  • Our hosting and backend provider, to store your synced settings, favorites, and device token (see Section 8);
  • Authorities or others, where we are required by law, to comply with legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or GoFuel.

Fuel pricing data is obtained from third-party sources, including the Régie de l'énergie du Québec. We send this provider no personal information about you. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

8. Service providers and where data is stored

We use trusted service providers to operate the Service, including a cloud backend provider (Supabase) for our database, authentication, and the website waitlist; Apple for app distribution, notifications, and in-app purchases; and Cloudflare for website hosting and the waitlist's anti-spam protection (Turnstile). These providers process information on our behalf under agreements that require them to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Your information may be stored or processed on servers located outside Quebec, including elsewhere in Canada and in the United States. Where information is transferred outside Quebec, we take steps required by applicable law, including Law 25, to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection.

9. Data retention

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the Service and for the purposes described in this policy, after which we delete or anonymize it. Synced settings, favorites, and your device token are retained while your installation is active. If you delete the App and stop using the Service, associated data is deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, subject to any legal retention requirements. You can request deletion sooner (see Section 11).

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a confidentiality incident involving your personal information that presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec and the affected individuals as required by Law 25, and we keep a register of confidentiality incidents.

11. Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of your information;
  • receive the computerized personal information you have provided to us, in a structured and commonly used technological format (data portability), where Law 25 applies;
  • withdraw your consent to a particular use; and
  • ask questions about how your information is handled.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will respond within the timeframe required by law. If you are in Quebec and are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI), which can be reached at cai.gouv.qc.ca. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under other privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA); residents covered by those laws may make equivalent requests using the same contact details.

We do not use your information to make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

12. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

14. Contact and Privacy Officer

The App is operated by La100e Labs inc. We have designated a person responsible for the protection of personal information. You can reach our Privacy Officer with any question or request regarding your information:
